Over the years the progress at ISC has been steady with a natural accession of employees – from the beginning where just a few were established in one single office up to today where 250 employees fill up drawing offices in both Denmark and abroad. Never the less like in any other company there have been a steady flow of people – some who stayed on for some time and some just in transit. Attention must of course be paid to the indications from the ones that chose to leave and used in order to enhance the setting at ISC – if not for those who left so as an improvement for the ones that stays on. The people are the foundation of a consultancy – the ground columns in the creation of great solutions. - Many employees are able to create many solutions. - Qualified employees assure that the assignments are solved in a professionally acceptable and innovative way assuring the client a good and durable solution. - Motivated employees assure that the assignments are solved even when deadlines and complexity demands long working hours and great involvement. A large staff has never been the main goal at ISC as long as we have been enough to handle the interesting assignments, the special assignments, the difficult assignments and last but not least the big assignments. And looking back we can see that we have always been enough. Here at ISC qualification and motivation are the key words – it creates a professional and loyal environment which will maintain and attract likeminded. The proof is evident - many employees have stayed on and many for whom the celebration of their 10th, 25th, 30th anniversary and even more than 45 years of employment for some have been a reality.

What is it that makes ISC an appealing place to work? One of the answers is the variety of the assignments, a statement of the fact that being an engineer is both rewarding and self motivating.

At ISC the assignments are considerably varied both in regards to substance, professionally, complexity and duration, all facts that contribute to motivate the true engineer.

Some days are spent alone with a small task to be solved - either because it is a small assignment or because it is an assignment that demands your special know-how. Other days you might be a part of a large designgroup consisting of both Danish and international specialists each with important know-how in the various fields.

The days can be spent either in-house at the drawing office or in the field supervising a building site or maybe in meetings with architects and contractors. An inspiring and challenging part of the job – as you become familiar with the different cultures and individuality of other companies and familiar with other scope of fields – an valuable part to acknowledge both technically and socially in order for the actual project to turn out exactly right. This is essential regardless to if it is a company that manufactures small devises, constructs ships or it is a buss or aircraft maintenance hall, if it is the production of cement or if is puri?cation of the exhaust from the cement plant, the building of small houses in a small town in Denmark or huge plants in Southeast Asia, if oil and gas are to be hauled up from the North sea or water cleansing in Greenland or if we "just" need to obtain at thorough understanding of how an airport or an airline company work both individually and united. As an important contrast to the engineer’s dry figures and factual calculations is the cooperation with the creative architects. They have a different and truly inspiring angle to the solution of a problem when aesthetics and technique have to form a synthesis – and a total contentment to the mission. Assignments at home one moment and abroad the next – an opportunity to test your language skill or maybe adventures in foreign and exotic countries lay ahead in form of a posting for a longer or a shorter period of time. An opportunity to experience foreign cultures and completely different technical and economic circumstances. Here you are responsible in representing not only ISC but also Denmark and our traditions and skills abroad. However, one never knows what it might lead to – on an assignment to Mongolia an ISC employee was given a horse as it is customary in these parts of the world. It is still there – just waiting for an other ISC employee to pass by.

At ISC the professional environment is strong, widely scoped and truly inspiring. Many have throughout the years due to the variety of assignments obtained much special know how in many peculiar topics and as the whole organization is founded as a unit without egocentric success criteria the obtained skills are widely passed on.

As the number of employees’ increases from just a handful to several hundred a company will naturally reflect society and represent the whole scope the ongoing changes.

It gives an understanding of what is needed in order to make the wheels turn and how to generate a pleasant working environment.

This we benefit from at ISC – we are good colleagues. The tone is pleasant and the tolerance is high – we respect people’s differences both regarding to skills, culture and individualism in a mutual understanding of that everybody will take their part in contributing so that tasks can be solved in the best possible way.

Advice is given when needed – regardless of the subject. The communication between us is good both professionally and on personal matters as well. Weekly electronic newsletters, intranet and information meetings on a regular basis keep us updated on everything that goes on in ISC.

And we are able to discuss other things than just the daily technical matters. Leisure activities are also a part of being good colleagues. Here we have a chance to meet and get to know the people we work with but never get to talk to.

We know that help is there if needed and we know that ISC care should illness strike – in short words we are a good team and we have a good coach. Of course we have problems – when many people have to act together it is inevitable. With assignment to be executed and deadlines to be held – every day. However, the problems that might occur we will solve instantly and with grace – like the rest of our assignment no fuss being made – because we are a cohesive unit and we feel the responsibility and we are proud of being a part of the team that accomplish things and even get to see the result of it. It is good to be a part of the ISC team.
