 | | The increasing focus on public health has given every town and every school their own sport facilities - naturally varying in size – but every little self-respecting small town has invested in sport centres enabling their inhabitants to engage themselves in a diversity of sport activities.
Of course, ISC has designed sport centres.
Most of them are multi functional centres for badminton, handball, tennis, volleyball and basketball. A true confusion of markings in different colours, but strange enough no one is in doubt when playing.
Also regarding sport centres ISC has contributed with untraditional solutions and excellent ideas.
To build a permanent hall around an existing pneumatic hall, still in use, was an untraditional solution.
Not all good ideas have been realised and some have been realised by others in a slightly modified version.
Belonging to the first category is a proposal for new indoor athletics facilities on Oesterbro Stadium. There is a substantial lack of space, it was possible – but using a shoehorn would have been necessary.
Belonging to the second category is the proposal for the Danish National Arena – that story can be found in this chapter.
Other proposals for sport centres in Denmark have been put forward since then – we still have many good ideas.
