Marine Structures
With 7.000 km coast line and 400 islands Denmark always has been a country and a population in close connection to the sea and its role as a both separating and connecting element.

Through the years ISC has designed many rather different projects with relation to the sea.

From sophisticated designed floating bus stops for the harbour bus of Copenhagen to sturdy ferry berths and ramps in busy commercial ports in Denmark, Sweden and latest Turkey, where a steady flow of cars, lorries and trains ensure the exchange of persons and goods to and from the harbour.

From shipyards in Alaska, Finland and Ireland to cement unloading facilities on Sumatra and lock gates at Kalvebod in Copenhagen.

The last-mentioned location is unique in Copenhagen. The picturesque yellow plastered buildings designed by the architect J. V. Dahlerup do not resemble any of his other works i.e. The Royal Theatre, The Pantomime Theatre (in Tivoli Gardens) and The National Museum of Arts.

ISC designed new lock gates and the original installation was renovated – a thankless task because the finished work after a lot of effort looks as if there has been only some cleaning.

The situation is quite different at the Nysted Offshore Wind Farm where 72 wind turbines make it the world-largest of its kind. ISC has designed the steel module for the transformer platform, which with its stainless steel louvers, is a pleasant sight. Further – thinking of our children and their children - it is nice to call to mind that the wind farm delivers pollution-free energy to 145.000 Danish family houses.
