At the West Burton Power station near Retford, Nottinghamshire, UK, ISC has prepared the entire design for all process structures in the absorber plant area for the implementation of a 4 x 500 MW Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant.

The Flue Gas Desulphurization Plant is designed and operated as a chemical absorption process. Injection of limestone slurry will remove over 90% of the sulphur-dioxide from the flue gas and produce de-sulpho gypsum.

The Plant consists of a common plant with storage facilities and handling facilities for limestone and gypsum and an absorber plant for the desulphurization of the flue gas. Structures comprise of absorbers, flue gas ducts, support structures, tanks etc.

Flue Gas Ducts with diameters of 7 m are transferring the raw gases from the EP filters via booster fan units to the by-pass section placed 40 m above ground level. From the bypass section, the flue gas is transferred to the gas-gas heaters to be cooled down prior to being desulphurized in the absorbers, in a chemical process in which lime is reacting with the sulphur-dioxide, leaving gypsum as the rest-product. The desulphurized flue gas is led via gas-gas heaters to the 200 m high chimneys each comprising of two ducts.

Snekkersten, New Waterworks

ISC Consulting Engineers A/S has in cooperation with a team consisting of turnekey contractor Krüger, contractor CC Bruun Enterprise and Gottlieb Paludan Architects won the turnkey contract for the new waterworks in Snekkersten in competition.

For F.L. Smidth ISC has designed storage facilities for raw material and additives to the cement factory Obajana Cement PLC in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria, approx. 100 miles from the coast.

The Avedoere Plant 2

Avedoere 2 is one of the most efficient and environmental friendly power plants worldwide, and it is able to use up to 94% of the energy from the fuel. Avedoere 2 has a capacity of 585 MW el-powers similar to the power consumption in 800.000 homes and 570 MJ/S district heat similar to the district heat consumption for approximately 110.000 homes. The efficiency of the fuelled energy is 95 %.
