MAN research center

Since 1987, ISC has been an advisor at MAN's test facilities for two-stroke diesel engines at Teglholmen, Copenhagen. The first part of the plant was built between 1990 and 1991 with the installation of an 8 MW 4-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine for engine parts testing for different types of fuel.

The facility has since been expanded in several rounds including major expansions in 2007-2008, and in 2015-2016. The most significant extension has been made in the period 2017-2021 with an additional test facility with a second 4-cylinder two-stroke engine for testing the sustainable fuels of the future.

ISC has contributed with the layout of the overall installation including the interconnection with the existing test system's auxiliary systems.

Detailed design has been carried out for basement sub-building, sheetpiling, pile foundation, engine foundation including installation of engine and associated auxiliary systems. Platforms and galleries, as well as the replacement of chimney from original 55 m height to 70 m with connection for both engines and for fulfilling stricter environmental requirements.
