Sundsvall Bridge
The bridge over the fjord is part of a larger extension of the E4 around Sundsvall, located approx. 400 km north of Stockholm. The entire project consists of a 1.4 km-long steel bridge over the fjord, with associated concrete ramp connections, and two concrete bridges over access roundabouts north and south of the fjord.
The steel bridge is made double-curved and has a variable cross-section. The girder height thus varies between 3.5 m and 6.5 m, and the width varies between 21.5 m and 35.0 m. The bridge has 11 bays with spans ranging from 88 m to 170 m. The bridge is supported on round columns and inclined beams with varying diameters.
