Sustainable energy to 1,4 million homes
The 1320 MW Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm will have a total of 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines. It will be the world's largest offshore wind farm, capable of providing sustainable energy to more than 1.4 million households, when it is fully operational in 2022. Ørsted is developing the Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm, located in the English part of the North Sea 89 km east of the coast of Yorkshire.
ISC has performed detailed design of both the Offshore Substation and Reactive Compensation Station.
The world's largest offshore wind farm
When the project is completed, the substation is expected to set a new record with a 1320 MW capacity and a weight of 8000 tons of topside installed on the six-legged jacket foundation. The offshore platform will have equipment for high voltage transmission, distribution and other facilities such as emergency generator, batteries and panels for controlling wind turbines.
The substation consists of a topside in steel that stands on a six-legged rectangular steel jacket, which is attached to the seabed by four piles that are driven into the seabed through the four corners of the steel jacket foundation.
Hornsea 2 Offshore Wind Farm will become the world's largest offshore wind farm when it becomes operational in 2022. The offshore substation and the reactive compensation station will be fabricated at Sembcorp Marine's integrated shipyard facilities in Singapore.
