Fredericia Refund Factory

Dansk Retursystem operates one of the most recognised deposit-return systems in the world. A new high-tech facility is now being constructed in Fredericia to handle the approx. 1 billion empty bottles and cans that are returned each year west of the Great Belt.

ISC is part of the journey and is responsible for all engineering services related to structures and all technical installations.

The construction site covers approx. 70,250 m², and the project comprises a total of 12,059 m² of new buildings with a footprint of 9,200 m².
The buildings will house production halls for sorting machines, workshops, packing areas, trailer hall, storage, loading ramps, unloading halls, administration, as well as sprinkler tank rooms and technical rooms.

The completed facility will employ approximately 150 production workers and drivers who will have their daily operations at the new factory from summer 2025.

Role of the Consultant

ISC has provided consultancy in the following phases:

  • Concept and preliminary design
  • Authority design and tender documents for subcontractors
  • Detailed design and project follow-up
  • Technical site supervision

Engineering Services

ISC has delivered the following services in these phases:

  • Structural engineering including pits (incl. certification)
  • All technical installations
  • Sewer, plumbing, ventilation, and sprinkler systems
  • Electrical systems, low-current systems, and BMS/CTS
  • Solar PV
  • Fire engineering in BK3 (incl. certification)
  • Certified structural engineer in KK2
